Dylan – Founder, Nature’s Serenity

Rooted in Fredericksburg, Texas

Nature’s Serenity was established in Fredericksburg, Texas, in 2025 as a small, independently owned business focused on handcrafted products, quality materials, and more thoughtful choices when it comes to sustainability.

Fredericksburg is also home in a much deeper sense for me. My family’s history here goes back more than 170 years to Johann Jakob Gottfried Ottmers, who came to the Fredericksburg area from Germany in the 1850s.

Generations of my family have called Fredericksburg and Gillespie County home since then, and I’m proud to be building Nature’s Serenity in the same community today.

Handcrafted With Purpose

Our products are made in small batches rather than mass-produced, which gives me more control over the materials, process, and finished product.

Our candles are currently made with a soy and coconut wax blend and FSC-certified wood wicks. We use glass jars and metal lids that can be reused or recycled, and sustainability is something I consider when choosing materials and packaging.

That doesn’t mean claiming every product has zero impact or covering everything in vague “eco-friendly” language. To me, it means making practical, responsible choices where they are available: using thoughtfully sourced materials, avoiding unnecessary waste, and choosing components that can be reused, recycled, or responsibly sourced whenever possible.

Handcrafting also means there will naturally be small differences from one product to another. That is part of making products by hand rather than pulling identical pieces from a factory line.

Simple, Recognizable Fragrances

I take a pretty straightforward approach to fragrance, too.

The name on the product should give you a good idea of what you’re going to smell.

Fredericksburg Peach should smell like peach. Texan Leather should smell like leather. Gardenia should smell like gardenia.

There can still be depth and character to a fragrance without giving it an abstract name that requires a long description just to figure out what it is supposed to smell like. I prefer scents that stay recognizable and true to their name.

It makes choosing a fragrance simpler, especially when shopping online, and it fits the way I want Nature’s Serenity products to be in general: well-made, straightforward, and easy to understand.

Nature’s Serenity

Nature’s Serenity is still a small business, and I’m proud of that.

Products are made with care here in Fredericksburg, with an emphasis on craftsmanship, thoughtful sourcing, sustainability, and creating something worth putting the Nature’s Serenity name on.

Those are simple standards, but they are the ones I intend to keep.

Embrace Nature’s Serenity.
